A stunning voice can be heard down in the subway tunnels of L.A., and everyone’s been curious about the mysterious opera singer behind it.

Just recently, a cop captured video of a homeless woman belting out a song with such talent it’s giving people chills. As it turns out, life hasn’t been easy for the songstress, whose name is Emily Zamourka. But thanks to all her viral fame things could be looking up.

Every homeless person in this world faces hardships and likely has a difficult story to tell. Emily too has struggled over the years.

Inside Edition met up with the subway singer to find out about her past. What they learned was that despite now living in the streets, it wasn’t always that way.

Emily’s originally from Russia where she received training to play the violin, yet, she also has a beautiful voice. She moved to Los Angeles 28 years ago.

Then it all came crashing down. Emily accumulated high medical bills, and because she couldn’t afford to pay them, she was forced out on the city streets.

In the beginning, Emily would make money by playing her violin for all the passersby. But even that got taken away from her.

One day, someone stole Emily’s violin (which was worth $10,000) leaving her with no other instrument besides her vocals. But she carried on.

Emily told Inside Edition:

“I was sleeping outside wherever I could go, and sleep and be safe, and God protected me.”

Those who travel on the subway in L.A. may have heard an angelic opera voice coming from a distance. That would be Emily. In fact, she even caught the attention of an LAPD officer.

The cop couldn’t resist recording and posting Emily’s performance on social media. Below it was the caption:

“4 million people call LA home. 4 million stories. 4 million voices…sometimes you just have to stop and listen to one, to hear something beautiful.”

In no time, the video of Emily singing spread like wildfire. It also had everyone wondering how she could be so down on her luck with such an incredible gift.

Emily is very grateful that the officer took the time to share her video. After all, it’s what’s led to people reaching out to her and even creating GoFundMe pages.

She said:

“If they would not be here that day, I would not be here, and I would not hear so many comments about me – good ones.”

Emily isn’t the first musician to be discovered on the streets.

As Inside Edition points out, panhandler Ted Williams ended up crawling out of poverty after his “golden voice” was heard. Herbie Russ also had rough years of being homeless before becoming well-known for his Joe Cocker sound.

Only time will tell what Emily Zamourka’s future holds, but it seems most would agree she’s destined for greater things. Many have offered positive comments as well.

One person wrote on YouTube:

“God blessed with a voice which in turn will hopefully, save her life. YAY!!!”

Another person shared:

“Her voice is absolutely amazing! Her talent is astonishing and rare to find! I hope she gets noticed somehow and her life changes for the better. She deserves it!”
